1st Quarter 2016
Grace Lutheran Church has certainly been blessed in the first quarter of 2016. St. John’s Lutheran Church of Statesville took Grace Lutheran Church under its wing providing leadership and support to our Mission. The formation of our Church has truly been miraculous. The Holy Spirit has been at work opening doors and providing for every need.
- Began weekly worship on January 10, 2016 under the leadership of Pastor Ernie Sheldon.
- January 12 – Women’s Bible Studies began.
- January 17 – Sunday School began for all ages.
- By the end of January Grace Lutheran Church was incorporated.
- Financial responsibilities of Grace Lutheran Church were transferred from St. John’s Lutheran Church to Grace.
- Salem Lutheran Church in Salisbury gifted Grace Lutheran Church 24 Pew Bibles.
- February 18 – Men’s Fellowship began.
- February 21 – 31 people were received into the membership of Grace Lutheran Church.
- March 20 – The first congregational meeting was held. A constitution was adopted.
- A formal request was made and accepted to affiliate with the North American Lutheran Church.
- A grant was received from the NALC to help with pastoral and worship needs in this first year.
- March 30 – Pastoral Search Team of five members held their first meeting.
The first quarter of the year presented many challenges and opportunities. Because of the generous prayers, time, talent and resources of our fellow members, visitors, family members and friends, challenges and opportunities were met head-on. Thanks be to God!
