December 3rd 2023, Grace Notes

December 3, 2023

Grace Chrismon Tree and Advent Paraments
● The Chrismon Tree in our sanctuary, as well as the Advent
Paraments, are dedicated today to the Glory of God and in
memory of those Grace members who’ve entered the Church
Triumphant. The word “Chrismon” is a combination of the
words “Christ” and “monogram”, depicted as symbols of
Christ. The colors of gold and white reflect His majesty and
purity. Among these symbols are four Resurrection Butterflies
placed in memory of Miriam Voigt, Judy Hinrichs, Leland
Bailey and Sally Williams; those Saints who’ve gone before us
and now rest eternally with our Lord and Savior. Our Advent
paraments are blue as a reminder of Christ’s coming. Just as
the sky turns blue right before the sunrise, Advent is a season
when we celebrate how Jesus Christ, “the sun of
righteousness” (Malachi 4:2) is coming soon.
Silent Auction
● Grace member John Kollmeyer will be holding a Silent
Auction of his woodcraft pieces. All proceeds will be donated
to Naomi’s Heart Mission. These items are available for bids
on Sunday mornings, as well as on Wednesday evenings,
throughout Advent. Please look for these and bid generously.
Grace Family Tree
● Did you know that Grace Lutheran has a family tree? We
do! Our family tree is in the form of a Christmas tree located
in the Fellowship Hall. If you haven’t already done so, you are
invited to bring an ornament to add to the tree! Please mark
your name on it so that we can remember you as part of our
family of faith here at Grace and fully appreciate the beauty of
our family tree!

Advent Bible Study
● We will be having Advent Bible Study on Tuesdays,
December 5, 12, and 19 at 6:30 pm in the fellowship hall. All
are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Advent Suppers and Services
● Wednesdays, Dec 6, 13, and 20: we will gather for Supper at
6:00 PM to be followed by Worship at 7:00 PM. The selected
menus for these are as follows:
December 6- Pancake/Breakfast Meal
December 13- Soup and Sandwich Meal
December 20- Comfort Food.
Sign up sheets for each week are on the bulletin board in the
Fellowship Hall. Please indicate there what you can bring and
join us as we look forward to Christmas.
Christmas Services
● Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year. Our customary
Worship Service will be held at 10:00 AM that morning with a
traditional Christmas Eve Service at 9:00 PM. Please celebrate
with us as we welcome the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord!
Poinsettias
● You are invited to purchase and dedicate a poinsettia (or
two, or more!) to beautify our chancel on Christmas Eve.
Dedication slips are included in today’s bulletin. Please fill
one out, add the remittance, and place it in the offering plate.
A dedication page will be included in the bulletins at both
services on December 24. Thank you! You may take your
poinsettia home with you after the 9:00 PM service that day.
Disciples in Service
● There are printed copies of the newest Disciples in Service
spreadsheet available for you to take home today; they are
located on the greeter’s table in the Fellowship Hall. These
new schedules run through February 2024.
